Accounting Manager

Job description

Origin Materials is a research and development company specializing in the manufacture of renewable, bio-based, specialty chemicals.


Main Responsibilities and Duties:

  • General Accounting
    • Manage various accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
    • Establish and maintain accounting processes and procedures
    • Review and approve PO activity
  • Month End and Consolidation
    • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
    • Review intercompany transactions and reconciliations
    • Review monthly prepaid and fixed asset roll forwards and related schedules
    • Review and monitor accounts payable sub ledger details and aging
    • Review bank reconciliations and corporate credit card reconciliations
    • Perform financial statement consolidation
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
    • Provide Month over Month and Quarter over Quarter analysis and commentary
  • Supervision and Controls
    • Develop, implement, and maintain internal financial controls and procedures
    • Oversee internal and external audits
    • Hire, train, and supervise up to five direct reports
  • Tax
    • Prepare tax and regulatory agency filings, US and Canada
    • Review HST/GST Filings
  • Reporting
    • Assist with board package prep
    • Assist with budget and forecasting
    • Provide commentary and narrative for Financial Statements  and BOD packs

Requirements

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, CPA preferred 
  • 5+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Proactive communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Proficiency with accounting software
  • Strong verbal and written skills
