Job description

Origin Materials is a materials technology company specializing in the manufacture of renewable chemicals. We are currently seeking an Purchasing Manager/Buyer to join our growing company.  The position serves as team member in the planning of material management functions, including: sourcing, surveying new vendors, procurement, policies & procedures related to all purchasing activities, negotiation, implementing optimal solutions, using manufacturing system and customer requirements to assure proper planning to support company’s rapidly growing business. 


Main Responsibilities and Duties (other duties may also be assigned):


  • Owner of the Purchase Order (PO) process including training users of the PO Process
  • Developing sourcing strategy, search and select suppliers to meet growing business needs
  • Maintaining vendor master lists including pricing, contracts, new vendor setup, establishing credit accounts, completing Credit Applications
  • Warehousing / inventorying items
  • Taking inventory / Collecting requests and compiling orders
  • Team up with members to manage material planning and procurement
  • Vendor contract agreement negotiation
  • Ensure that materials are properly requisitioned, ordered and delivered on time
  • Maintain inventory level and safety to match company continuous growth
  • Continuously refine material qualification, sourcing, and material workflow process
  • Team work with Engineering and Operations to build vendor master list
  • Set up supplier audit plan and identify the capability, quality level and drive suppliers for continuous performance improvement and cost reduction
  • Support new business opportunities

Employment Status: Full-time

Hours per Week: 40

Location: West Sacramento, CA

Home Department: Operations

Reports To:  Director of Operations

Compensation: 70k

  • Master / BS degrees in Chemical Engineering
  • 5 years+ of experienced in Product Management, Project Management/ FAE/ P.M./ Sales with 5 years+ in managerial position
  • Working knowledge and experience with MRP systems
  • Experiences and knowledge of PC, Server, Chemical processes
  • Excellent in oral and written communication skills
